Petr Nitka, a gender-neutral model from the Czech Republic, has become a known face in international fashion arena and is gearing up for his India debut.
After making a revolutionary move of choosing a transgender model, Anjali Lama, as its winner at the recently-conducted auditions for the upcoming Lakme Fashion Week/Summer (LFWS) in Mumbai, the Indian fashion industry is set to drop yet another bomb on the otherwise critical Indian society.
Yes, the ramp of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017 will now be adored by the gracious presence of an exotically beautiful gender-neutral model, named Petr Nitka.
Already making headlines with his bold choice of exhibiting both menswear and womenswear on ramps as well as photoshoots, Petr is going to take the Indian fashion circuit by storm this summer. Born in the Czech Republic, Petr Nitka has dominated many runways across the globe and firmly believes in the idea that fashion is a little different and mostly unique.
When inquired about this sudden deviation from what is considered as ‘perfect model material’, Jaspreet Chandok, Head of Fashion at IMG Reliance, reportedly said, “We remain committed to breaking stereotypes in Indian Fashion by leading the conversation on inclusivity. Petr is a great addition to a varied and interesting model pool this season.”
It is not just ‘breaking stereotypes’ the organisers of LFWS are looking at, their bigger aim is to bring in diversity to the ramp. Talking about Petr Nitka’s addition to India’s fashion family, Purnima Lamba, Head of Innovation for Lakme, reportedly said, “With every season, Lakme Fashion Week is breaking beauty boundaries and showcasing diversity. With the talented Petr Nitka walking the ramp this season, we will be witnessing a paradigm shift in the Indian fashion and beauty industry.”
The show will happen in the month of February, from 1st to 5th, where both Petr and Anjali will walk the ramps for Indian designers.
