IAS exam topper of 2015, Tina Dabi and her husband Athar Aamir Khan, who came 2nd in the same exam, hosted their wedding reception on Ashoka Road in central Delhi on Saturday 14th April. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan were also present as guests at the grand reception of Tina and Aamir.
Tina Dabi, 24 and Aamir Khan, 25 got married in Jaipur last month. Their family and friends had attended the wedding celebrations in south Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 7.
Several officials from Rajasthan were also seen at the reception. Both Ms. Dabi and Mr. Khan are Rajasthan-cadre Indian Administrative Service or IAS officers.
Tina is from Delhi and is a graduate of Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi. In 2015, the Dalit community celebrated when Tina Dabi became the first Dalit to top the prestigious civil services exam.
Athar Aamir Khan also ranked second in his second attempt at the exam. In his first attempt in 2014, Mr. Khan had got into the railways and was undergoing training at the Railways Institute of Transport Management in Lucknow. He is from a village in Anantnag district, south Kashmir. Aamir became interested in joining IAS after Shah Faesal from Kashmir valley topped the civil services examination in 2009.
Tina and Aamir met at the Department of Personnel and Training in Delhi during their training and fell in love then. The couple had faced mass backlash on social media when they announced their wedding plans last year.
They both have become an inspiration to the youth of this Country. Tina said, “said she does not let the comments affect her and for her, this marriage goes beyond the boundaries of religion”.
