Recently, Spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was in talk with the students of New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University.  At the 13th Nehru Memorial Lecture, a student asked him how he should handle his family and friends who ‘mistreat’ him because of his sexual orientation. As per the reports of  scroll.in, his words at the lecture were, “If you stand up, nobody can insult you, but if you feel bad about yourself, nobody can make you feel better. This is your tendency now…just acknowledge it, accept it, and know that this tendency is not a permanent thing. It may change. I’ve seen many men who were gay later turn into heterosexuals, and there are those who are normal, who are called straight people, end up being gay later in life.”

However, Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor wasn’t happy with his statements and consider it to be very irresponsible. The actress who seemed to be pretty outraged tried to correct the Spiritual guru via a tweet. She wrote, “Homosexuality is not a ‘tendency’ it’s something you are born as and is absolutely NORMAL. To tell someone you can change is irresponsible.”

Alia Bhatt too joined the debate and wrote:

However, people are not happy with the comment of these ladies. Sonal is getting some lessons in return. Here’s how people are reacting:

Well, what does she thinks about it now?

On work fronts, Sonam will be next seen in ‘Veere Di Wedding’ alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan and Swara Bhaskar.
