Mahendra Singh Dhoni’ Chennai Super Kings defeated Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier in Vizag on Friday to set up a final date with Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2019. Earlier, Mumbai defeated CSK in the first qualifier to become the first team to enter into the final. Chennai then collided with Delhi Capitals who themselves, knocked out Sunrisers Hyderabad but could not overcome CSK hurdle.
After winning the toss, Chennai elected to bowl first and then restricted Delhi to a total of 147 courtesy of some good bowling by DJ Bravo, Deepak Chahar, and Harbhajan Singh. Chasing a target of 148, Chennai’s openers Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis scored fifties each and added an 81-run stand to set up the chase for Chennai.

Delhi soon dismissed the duo and tried to crawl back into the game but Ambati Rayudu (20*) was unbeaten at one end with Suresh Raina (11) adding crucial runs to help Chennai get to a win.
In the end, CSK made easy work of Delhi. This was also CSK’s 100th IPL win. On the other hand, it was heartbreak for Delhi Capitals and their fans as they did all the hard work to get to the Playoffs for the first time since 2012 but could materialize the dream of making their first ever IPL final.
Twitter was flooded with congratulatory tweets for Chennai, some fans hailed Delhi’s season and wished them better luck, while some others posted hilarious memes on the microblogging platform.

Next Up for Chennai is the title decider against Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Both Mumbai and Chennai have racked up 100 wins in IPL and are the joint highest winners of IPL with 3 titles to each side. All these stats prove that Sunday’s finale will be an epic clash between the two most successful teams in IPL history.
