Akshay Kumar’s latest release ‘Gold’ has successfully entered the 100 crore club in Day 13. The film has till now earned Rs 100.45 crore at the box office. Gold released on August 15 and earned about Rs 25.25 crore on Day 1 and became the third highest opener of 2018.

However, it is the 8th film of 2018 to enter the 100 crore club after Padmaavat, Sony Ki Titu Ki Sweety, Raid, Baaghi 2, Raazi, Race 3 and Sanju.
Movie critic Taran Adarsh said that the figure ‘is no longer a measure of a film’s success.’ After a massive opening on Day 1, the film witnessed a major drop in earning in second weekend and also on next day after release when it earned only Rs 10 crore when compared to Day 1 collections. Taran Adarsh said, “one definitely expected bigger numbers, especially after a terrific Day 1.”
Gold suffered a clash from John Abraham clash on Aug 15 which earned Rs 18 crore on Day 1. And till now, it has raked around Rs 84.92 crores.
Akshay Kumar has earlier delivered several films that entered the 100 crore club. Here’s the list:
1- Toilet- Ek Prem Katha which released on August 11, 2017 earned around Rs 134.22 crore at the box office. The film also starred Bhumi Pednekar.
2- August 12, 2016 release Rustom raked Rs 127 crore at the box office. Moreover, the film also led Akshay Kumar winning the National award.
3- 2017 film Jolly LLB 2 earned Rs 117 crore. The film also starred Huma Qureshi, Annu Kapoor, and Saurbah Shukla in pivotal roles.
4- Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandes, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan starrer Housefull 3 earned Rs 109.14 crore.
5- 2016 thriller film Airlift earned around Rs 128.1 crore.
6- 2012 release Housefull 2 minted Rs 106 crore at the box office.
7- Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha’s 2012 film Rowdy Rathore earned around Rs 133,25 crore.
Gold is a sport drama based on 1948 Olympics in which India won its first gold medal as free India. Akshay Kumar plays Tapan Das who is a Bengali and Mouni Roy plays his wife Monobina.
