Amazon India recently announced that to fulfill the delivery requirement in the country, they are going to offer 50,000 job opportunities. Due to the outbreak and lockdown, the shopping giant was on hold and as the company has received permission to operate their business, they need extra manpower to fulfill the growing demands.
The temporary jobs will be of warehouse management and delivery network. As the company is also trying to save costs as much as possible, the concept of temporary jobs was introduced by the company representative. These new 50,000 workers will be responsible for order processing, packing, shipping, tracking, and the final delivery of the products using Amazon’s existing delivery network.
Following the job cuts done by Zomato, Swiggy, and Ola, the company is not willing to hire full-time workers which will be an expensive deal or the company. Akhil Saxena, Amazon’s VP for customer fulfillment operations said in a meeting that the company will fully take care of the safety measures and social distancing.
The company has also launched its food delivery startup in selected areas of Bangaluru as it will directly compete with Swiggy and Zomato which are already established in this business.
Mr. Akhil also said the company wants to give the most flawless services to its customers and this move of hiring 50,000 people will help them in achieving their goals of faster delivery and pacing up their process in this lockdown.
