Ankita Konwar took to Twitter to call out racism in India, says netizens still comments as ‘corona’ or ‘chinki’ on posts

Some netizens who are literate but still fail to show their literacy and maturity over it. In some cases they forget at racism is invalid and people need to stop discriminating the Nothern people everytime when they see them. Since, Manipur’s Mirabai Chanu is applauded for bringing medal glory from Olympics, here’s the fitness enthusiast Ankita Konwar who wonders that if the people from Northeast needs to win medals to be recognized as part of Indian country irrespective of the caste creed and race. Ankita had previously started a conversation calling out the racist attitude on Twitter, where she feels like it’s time to accept all our flaws.

Anikta who is 29 from Assam says, “It’s is not going to change by just one person. I’m just trying to make it a point that these things exist in our society.”

She opened up on how she pushed her words to insert her own thoughts she says, “I know people who call out individuals from Northeast as ‘chinki’; I’ve corrected them many times. Now, I see them coming out and say, ‘We’re so proud of you’. When you see a post like that, you’re like, ‘Oh wow, now you think that we’re a part of India’. It’s only when somebody is winning a medal that you can be a part of the country, so what about the rest of us then.”

She also shares her personal experience through sharing tweet, people just come on my page and post comments like corona, Chinese, or chinki. It’s hurtful,” regrets Konwar, who’s married to actor Milind Soman.
