Much awaited films Sooryavanshi and 83 will release on Diwali and Christmas this year, respectively

Some of the big movies of the year got delayed for release due to the lockdown. Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi and Kabir Khan’s ’83 are amongst those movies. The release dates were pushed and then there was no confirmation about their release. Theatres all over the country are shut down. But, for all those fans who have been eagerly waiting for the release of these films, there is good news for you. PVR Cinemas has announced new release dates for the movies.  Sooryavanshi will hit the theatres on Diwali 2020, while ’83 will open on Christmas 2020.

Let’s talk about the movies a little. Directed by Rohit Shetty, Sooryavanshi is a cop franchise starring Akshay Kumar as anti-terror squad chief ACP Veer Sooryavanshi. Other actors featuring in the movie will be Katrina Kaif as the leading lady. The film will also have special appearances by Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh as Inspector Bajirao Singham and Inspector Sangram Bhalerao aka Simmba respectively.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, film ’83 is based on how Team India created history by winning the ICC Cricket World Cup for the first time in 1983. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone will be seen as former captain Kapil Dev and his wife Romi Bhatia. The film also features an ensemble cast, including Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu and Ammy Virk.

Kabir Khan, director of ’83 said, “83 is a film that has been envisioned and made to be experienced on the big screen and we are ready to wait for things to get normal and then release it in cinemas.” Some other big films will be released on the digital platform like Bhuj: The Pride of India, Sadak 2 and Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl.
