Mardaani actor Tahir Raj Bhasin revealed in a recent interview that he was rejected around 250-300 times in auditions before making his Bollywood debut. Tahir has appeared in many films since his debut in Mardaani like Force 2 and Chhichhore.
While talking about his struggles in the industry as an outsider, he said that he came to Mumbai with big dreams but soon realised the harsh reality. “I had actually come with a big dream, that I’d come to Mumbai and immediately bag a Yash Raj or Dharma film in a week,” he told in a radio interview to RJ Siddharth Kannan. “It took me around three months to find a house here, roles were another thing altogether.”
When RJ asked him about rejections, he answered, “It took me around four years before that audition for Mardaani came along. Every audition in which I was rejected taught me something… I have been rejected something between 250-30o times in total, including ads, films, etc.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Tahir will soon be seen in the sports drama 83, which has been delayed because of the second wave of COVID-19 in India. The film is based about the Indian team’s underdog victory at the 1983 World Cup. Tahir plays the role of Sunil Gavaskar in the film. Along with this, he also has Looop Lapeta and Bulbul Tarang in the pipeline.
