Two Former Chief Ministers Of J&K Have Been Arrested, Other Leaders Have Been Under House Arrest

After the Article 370’s removal, the Cops Taken to custody Sajjad Lone and Imran Ansari, along with two former Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah on Monday evening. While many key separatists including Syed Ali Shah Gilani, Mirwaiz Maulvi Umar Farooq, along with a dozen mainstream leaders including NC President and MP Dr Farooq Abdullah are kept in their homes.

Also a dozen mainstream leaders, including Umar, Mehbooba Mufti, Farooq, Imran Raza Ansari of People’s Conference, Shah Faisal, Muzaffar Hussain Baig, Muzaffar Shah, Pir Mansor, Ghulam Nabi Hanjura, Usman Majid and Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami Sakit were kept intern on Sunday. On Monday evening, Cops Taken Sajjad Lone, Imran Ansari, Mehbooba, Omar to custody from their homes. Apart from them, the leaders including Gilani, Mirwaiz Maulvi, Umar Farooq, Javed, Musalik, Masroor Ansari, Mukhtar Waza, Zafar Fateh were not allowed to leave the house.

With the shutdown of Internet services in the Valley, Section 144 has been imposed in Srinagar. The vigilance of important institutions and sensitive areas of the plaintiff has been increased. Security forces are deployed on the rallies. All educational institutions in all districts of the state have been closed till further orders. Governor Satyapal Malik called an emergency meeting in the midst of a rapidly changing development which was attended by senior cops and administration officials. In this, the Governor has asked the Chief Secretary to report every hour keeping an eye on the incident. Officers have been given satellite phones for connectivity, as there are reports of mobile services being disrupted.

Planning Committee’s Principal Secretary Rohit Kansal has said that the request of the Central Government is to keep peace with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.  There is no time to give a lot of reaction in the hours. The state administration is trying to maintain law and order in the state. A three-month food item is available in the valley. There is no shortage of food items.

Article 370, which accords special status to Jammu and Kashmir will be scrapped. In the Rajya Sabha today, Home Minister Amit Shah presented a resolution for the reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir where Ladakh will be a separate Union Territory without a legislature & the Jammu and Kashmir will be a Union Territory with a legislature. On the other hand, Dr. Vinay Tushko of Jammu University said that the university will remain closed till 6 August. All undergraduate and PG exams and admissions will be postponed.  The new schedule of examination and admission will be announced soon.

Apart from Kashmir, schools have been closed in all districts of Jammu division till further orders. District Deputy Commissioner of Jammu Sushma Chauhan and DC Piyush Singhal of Udhampur confirmed this. According to administrative sources, Section 144 will be applicable from 6 pm on Monday in Jammu district. Curfew can also be imposed in view of the situation.

“How ironic that elected representatives like us who fought for peace are in cos custody. The world watches as people and their voices are being muzzled in J-K,” former chief minister of the state Mufti tweeted.

“The same Kashmir that chose a secular democratic India is facing oppression of unimaginable magnitude. Wake up India,” she further wrote.

“In such difficult times, I’d like to assure our people that come what may, we are in this together and will sort it out. Nothing should break our resolve to strive for what’s rightfully ours,” she tweeted.
