Anushka Sharma’s produced web series Paatal Lok has landed into trouble as a Gorkha community has registered a complaint against them over disrespectful comments on their community. The complaint has been filed online by All Arunachal Pradesh Gorkha Youth Association.
On May 18, the issue was registered on the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) over alleged sexist slur made against the community in the web series. On the other hand, Bharatiya Gorkha Yuva Parisangh has also initiated a campaign against this show to mute a scene and remove some subtitles from the show.
In the complaint, it is mentioned that the show has used disrespectful words for a woman who belongs to the Khasi community of Meghalaya and they have demanded the entire scene to be removed from the second episode of the show Paatal Lok.
The community in a media interaction said that people should not promote any kind of stereotypes that can harm a community’s or a person’s feelings and emotions. It sets a distorted image among people regarding a certain community, said Nanda Kirati Dewan, president of the Bharatiya Gorkha Yuva Parisangh.
Over this, no update has been received from Anushka Sharma and her production company. This is the first time when this Bollywood diva has caught into such issues.
