Arjan Bhullar becomes first Indian-origin fighter to win a world title in a major MMA promotion. He beat Brandon Vera to become the heavyweight world champion at the Singapore-based One Championship.

Bhullar’s victory over Vera ended the Filipino-five-year American’s championship run. Bhullar completely dominated the fight in the second round. Brandon Vera, the man himself stated in an interview after the match, “It’s the first time in my entire career that I felt gassed in the first round.”  Vera added, “I’m in shape, we’ve been training, we’ve been working with the best people in the world. This is new for me.”

After winning the Heavyweight Championship, Bhullar said “Now, I wanna attack the pro wrestling industry and, WWE, I’m coming for you guys next!”

Bhullar is a former wrestler who won the Commonwealth Games gold medal in New Delhi in 2010. In 2012, he became the first Canadian Indian athlete to compete in the Olympics and made his UFC debut in UFC 215 against Luis Enrigue Barbosa de Oliveira.
