The Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog has initiated a marketing campaign across India to encourage citizens to use cow dung-based items like diyas on Diwali this year and avoid buying Chinese products. Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog committee is targeting to manufacture and supply a total of 33 crore diyas made up from the cow dung which is an eco-friendly alternative to Chinese lights this Diwali.
Chairman Vallabhbhai Kathiria mentioned this while addressing the media on Monday. Last year, the committee had arranged a safety campaign to protect and take care of indigenous cattle in the country.
Rejecting China-made diyas, the campaign will boost ‘Make in India’ concept of the Prime Minister and swadeshi movement, said the chairman of Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog, Vallabhbhai Kathiria.
According to the reports, more than 13 states will be participating in this campaign for manufacturing these diyas. Along with this, around 3 lakh cow dung-based diyas will be lit at Ayodhya and the committee will also lit around 1 lakh diyas in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.’Manufacturing has started. We are targeting 33 crore diyas before Diwali’, said the chairman.
Diyas are not the only item on the list of the committee. Along with them, Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog is also promoting other items like the anti-radiation chip, paper-weights, incense sticks, and candles to boost local businesses. He further said that such initiatives will help the gaushalas as they are also facing financial problems due to the outbreak. It is the best time to create more opportunities in rural areas of India, said Mr. Kathiria.
