Bori Wildlife Sanctuary

One such wonderful wildlife reserve in India that has a diverse range of plants and animals is Bori Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is situated in the Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh. It is the oldest forest reserve in the country and has got wonderful scenic beauty around.

About Bori Wildlife Sanctuary

Bori Wildlife Sanctuary was established in the year 1977. It is spread in the area of 518 sq km and is situated in the foothills of the Satpura range in Madhya Pradesh. The northern and eastern areas of the reserve are bound by Satpura National Park while it has Tawa river on its west.

Bori wildlife sanctuary is the home for rare animals like chital, sambar, nilgai, muntjac, striped hyena, chinkara, gaur, four-horned antelope, rhesus macaques, chevrotain, and tiger.  Other than wildlife, the sanctuary also has wealthy 1, 300 species of exotic plants.

Jeep safaris and walking tours

Just like another other forest reserves, Bori sanctuary also offers a jeep safari to its visitors. You can give a close watch to the wildlife if taken jeep safari as it rides into the reserve in the unpaved roads. Tourists can also enjoy walking tours or hikes with the help of guides present over there. The costs for the jeep safari and walking tours are very much affordable.

Best time to visit

Due to the favorable weather conditions, the sanctuary is full of tourists from October to June.

By air

Tourists can reach by air to the sanctuary.  The nearest airport is Raja Bhoj in Bhopal.  The distance between the airport and sanctuary measures 200km.

By train

The nearest railway station is Pipariya railway station.

By road

You can catch direct buses to Pachmarhi from Indore, Bhopal, Pipariya, Hoshangabad etc.
