French authorities have grounded a Nicaragua-bound aircraft carrying over 300 Indian passengers due to suspicions of human trafficking. The plane, operated by Legend Airlines, was detained at Vatry airport in France after taking off from the United Arab Emirates. On board were 303 Indian nationals who are now being held at the airport during an ongoing investigation.

Acting on an anonymous tip, France grounded the plane and is leading an inquiry into potential human trafficking crimes. The national anti-organized crime unit is spearheading the investigation and looking into whether organized criminal groups were involved with the flight.

The 303 Indian passengers, who are being housed at Vatry airport during the investigation, are being kept in an area that has been converted to provide separate beds. A specialized unit from the Paris prosecutor’s office is also investigating the incident and the potential trafficking crimes. The passengers are considered likely victims of human trafficking.
