Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni played the IPL 2023 season with a heavily strapped left knee. While he seemed fine while keeping, more often than not batted as late as No. 8 and did not look swift while running between the wickets.
It has now been reported that the batsman will be seeking an expert opinion from sports orthopedics in Mumbai on the state of his dodgy left knee before taking a call on his treatment, CEO Kasi Viswanathan said on Monday.
In a conversation with PTI, Viswanathan stated that it can only be ascertained if he needs surgery, based on the reports.
The CEO was also asked if Dhoni will opt out from playing the next year’s IPL season. He replied by saying that they are not thinking about it, because it haven’t reached that stage. He added that it will be completely dependent on Dhoni to make that call, but the CSK team have not yet entertained that thought.
Further ahead talking about CSK’s fifth IPL win, the veteran said that the game is all about “team spirit and every player knowing his role which is very well defined in out set up.”
CSK defeated Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans in finals to clinch its 5th IPL trophy.
