The classic movie Lagaan was released on 15th June 2001 and completed 20 years yesterday. The movie is a classic in the patriotism genre and a landmark in Hindi cinema. The actors along with some people from the crew had a small celebration to mark the occasion. They held an online meeting to reminisce about the time when they shot the film together and how far along they have come.
AR Rahaman shared some photos from the meet on his Instagram handle giving us a glimpse of the party. Among the attendees were lead actor Aamir Khan, Paul Blackthorne, Rachel Shelley, Director of the film Ashutosh Gowariker, Suhasini Mulay, Pradeep Rawat, Yashpal Sharma, and Akhilendra Mishra, and AR Rahman. Though nothing is official yet according to rumors, the recording of the online meet may soon become available on YouTube for the fans.
Rahman captioned his post, “#20YearsOfLagaan an emotional and proud team!”
Aamir Khan also shared a heartfelt video thanking his fans for the love they showered on the movie. He also expressed his gratitude towards the makers of the film. He further explained what the film meant to him and recounted the happy times and memories he made on-set.
Lagaan received a lot of love from the audience and even bagged an Academy Awards nomination under the Best Foreign Language Film category in 2002. Apart from this, it won a total of eight National Film Awards.
