Actress Rakhi Sawant has been involved in a number of controversies since the start of the year. First, she affirmed her marriage to Adil Durrani by revealing their wedding photos, despite his denial. Rakhi then filed a case against Adil for domestic violence, theft and cheating after he accepted that they had married, which resulted in his arrest.
And now, Rakhi’s brother Rakesh Sawant has been arrested in a cheque-bouncing case, after the arrest of her ex-husband Adil. Rakesh, a director, producer and writer, was arrested on May 7 by Oshiwara police and appeared in court on Monday, May 8, according to a report in the Marathi-language daily newspaper Sakal. Rakesh has also been sent to judicial custody until May 22, according to the report.
A businessman filed a complaint against Rakesh in 2020 and Rakhi’s brother was arrested three years ago before being released on bail. The court granted him bail in the cheque-bouncing case on the condition that he return the money to the businessman, which he did not do.
Meanwhile, when Adil was arrested earlier this month, Rakesh disclosed that he beat Rakhi on the same day their mother, Jaya Bheda passed away.
