Mumbai teacher who turned his auto-rickshaw into mobile ambulance for COVID patients earns praise

A part time English teacher at Dnyansagar Vidya Mandir School, Dattatraya Sawant, converted his auto-rickshaw into makeshift ambulance in order to help the patients reach hospital.

According to ANI news agency, Sawant’s mobile ambulance comes with PPE kits, sanitization and other essentials.

Netizens are all praise for this teacher who has now came in time of need to help the COVID-19 patients.

In a statement to the news agency, Sawant said, “I drop off corona patients to Covid Care Centre and the hospital for free of charge, and also bring discharged patients from the hospital and Covid Centre to their respective homes.”

As the cases surged in Maharashtra, Sawant decided on providing free service to the people in the northeast Mumbai.

His work was admired by the former cricket player, VVS Laxman, who took it to Twitter.

Recently, another man from Bhopal, Javed, earned praise online as he converted his auto-rickshaw into mobile ambulance to help the COVID-19 patients, in order to fill in for the shortage of emergency vehicles in his locality.
