Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor’s post addressing the “many people who do not understand the gravity of the situation our country is in” seems to have backfired, which is evident with the comments thread asking her to deliver the advice shared in the post with her own family and friends.
Amid a brutal spike in new pandemic cases coupled with shortages of medical resources, the actress wrote, “The next time you step out, or wear your mask under your chin, or flout the rules, spare a thought for our doctors and medical staff.”
The words of the actress were well-intentioned but naively tone-deaf and hence it provoked instant fury among her followers. Her fans pointed out that her cousin Ranbir Kapoor and his girlfriend Alia Bhatt had just come back from a holiday in the Maldives, and both of them recovered pandemic just a while ago.
One of the comments on the actress’s post read, “And same goes for celebs who were shamelessly going for exotic vacays. Please spread your word to them as well.” Same thoughts were seen in multiple comments on the post. One of the fans commented, “Please tell the same to your cousin who was vacationing in Maldives with his beau a week ago.” Another user on Instagram wrote, “What about your friends going to Maldives for vacay.”
Overall there was a flurry of comments that really went against her post on Instagram.
On the professional front, the actress will next be seen in the movie Laal Singh Chaddha, along with Aamir Khan. She filmed the movie during her pregnancy last year. She and her husband Saif Ali Khan welcomed a baby boy in February this year.
