Bollywood stars are always the centre of attraction and the fans want to know all about them. And with shows like Koffee with Karan, we get to know about their personal lives and many other fun secrets also other than defamatory comments, mocking other stars for their choices, etc. To sum up, watching Karan Johar’s show is the audience’s guilty pleasure.
But do you know that there were many talk shows previously that gave us a sneak-peek into celebrities’ life but with some sense of dignity and respect? Let’s take a deep insight at the shows that were eloquent:
Rendezvous with Simi Garewal
The host of the show, Simi Garewal, has been all sorted and graceful while interviewing big-time celebs from the film industry. Rekha, Amrita Rao, Saif Ali Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and a lot more graced her show where they talked about their personal fronts without any hesitation. Interestingly, Karan himself came on the show with his bestie Kajol.
Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai
Late Farooq Sheikh entertained us with a formatted show Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai. He was so positive and engaging person to be around with. Once he invited Shah Rukh Khan, and going by the format, the makers invited his teachers and old friends, and the show had some emotional moments. Well, that one episode is still in our memories!

Apart from these two iconic shows, there were shows like Movers and Shakers hosted by Shekar Suman, Star Yaar Kalakaar hosted by actress Farida Jalal and On The Couch With Koel hosted by Koel Purie that entertained us for a long time. While Shekhar’s wit or Farida Jalal’s impressive questions to B’town stars went unnoticed, they were a sheer delight to be watched on the small screen.

Irrfan’s presence has been all around me today – larger than life, yet completely humble. He wasn’t even a friend or someone I was in touch with (though he was one of my first few co-stars) and yet I feel a hollow in my heart. Perhaps because he was beyond brilliant at his craft, much loved internationally without diluting his vernacular roots and getting better & better with every film. He had so much more to give and gave till his dying breath. Thank you 🙏🏽 I’m unexpectedly so very sad. #irfankhan #irrfankhan #rip An old interview with him where I came out feeling like I learnt something today. 🙏🏽
Meanwhile, you guys stay safe!
