#potatofield#village#house#garden#landshaftdesign#lawn#nativeland#

The atmosphere all over the Paris was not safe and looting was happening in the bakeries. The French realm had just finished a 7-year confrontation with Russia, Austria and Prussia. France was on the edge of hunger. In such a condition, France made declaration about a prize for the best research on food which saved from the consequences of scarcity.

The champion of this prize was Antiano Augustine Parmentier, a young pharmacy trainee who also spent some years in Prussia pr..on. During that time, he used his time exploring the potato plants outside his chamber. Here they used to get three potatoes on a daily basis. Potato consumption kept him strong throughout his term.

He came back to Paris with the special memory of Potato in his intellect. He bagged the prize by expressing him the qualities of potato. By this time the potato had been in Europe for over 150 years, but it had not received attention thus far. The clergy had banished the potato crop, stating that it was not appropriate for human ingesting as it is not cited in the Bible.

Botanists in England labeled the potato as a creation of dirt and dusk. In the year 1616 there was a ban on potato farming in Burgundy area of France. Paris accompanied it.

In the year 1633, the British botanist John Gerald wrote, “the people of Barangadi have prohibited potatoes because they believe that its consumption leads to leprosy.”

During the 19th century, Thomas Malthus and Charles Darwin supported potatoes and then this veggie got its place all over and never looked back.
