Rakesh Roshan opens up about his film Karan Arjun, reveals Ajay Devgn was originally signed before Salman Khan

Rakesh Roshan, an actor-turned-filmmaker, has revealed that Ajay Devgn was first signed for the 1995 blockbuster, Karan Arjun, before Salman Khan took the role. The movie starred Salman along with Shah Rukh Khan and was a box office hit as well as a winner at various award shows. Rakesh made the revelation while appearing as a special guest on the singing reality show Indian Idol.

Sony posted the promo of the special episode on their Instagram account with the caption: “Jaaniye Rakesh Roshan Ji ke movies ke kayi unsune kahaaniyan.” It shows host Haarsh Limbachiyaa questioning Rakesh about the movie.

Rakesh went on to say that Ajay Devgn was originally cast in Karan Arjun before Salman Khan. He likewise stated that the film was titled Kaynaat then and not Karan Arjun, with Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn as the lead actors. The filmmaker added that Ajay was unable to do the film because of some reason.

 

The filmmaker further said that Kareena Kapoor was signed for his 2000 directorial Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, however, she was unable to do the role because of some reason. Hrithik Roshan made his Bollywood debut in the film, and Ameesha Patel portrayed the female lead.
