Saina Nehwal’s father expresses displeasure over Siddharth’s tweet targeting his daughter; Demands an apology

On Tuesday, the father of badminton champion Saina Nehwal, Harvir Singh Nehwal, demanded actor Siddharth to apologize for his allegedly contemptuous remarks against the badminton player. “A person from the cinema industry (actor Siddharth) has made some bad remarks against Saina (Nehwal) on Twitter. I condemned his statement. He should come out in open and apologize. Our family is really disturbed. Saina is also unhappy,” Harvir Singh Nehwal told ANI.

It comes after criticizing the actor for using ‘very wrong words’. In an conversation to news portal, he expressed him feeling very upset over “very wrong words” used against his daughter. He also called his tweet to be “derogatory.”

He went on to say that Saina is currently in Delhi and preparing for the India Open 2022 and added that “she didn’t like someone writing about her” and other organisations such as National Commission for Women supported Saina. He added that he has never heard such words coming from a gentleman.

Expressing concerns about the Prime Minister’s convoy being stuck for 15-20 minutes on a viaduct in Bathinda, Punjab, as the road ahead was blocked by protestors. Talking about the same, badminton player tweeted in support of the PM. Siddharth replied to her tweet saying, “Subtle cock champion of the world… Thank God we have protectors of India.”

His tweet in reply to the badminton player was termed as ‘misogynistic’ and NCW not only demanded legal action against the actor but also wondered why his Twitter account wasn’t blocked. 

Following the controversy, the actor also replied that he had no intention of disrespecting anyone and that his “subtle cock” tweet contained no kind of insinuation. He stated, “Cock and bull. . Reading otherwise is unfair and guiding. Nothing disrespectful was intended, said, or implied period.
