Sidhart Malhotra and Kiara Advani starrer Shershaah has invited nothing but appreciation for their efforts. The plot is based on the Kargil war, and the film mainly focuses on the heroic gestures by the Param Vir Chakra awardee Vikram Batra. While maintaining the focus on his professional life, the movie also showed a glimpse of his real life romance with Dimple Cheema.

The film’s writer, Sandeep Srivastava, revealed  that while researching about the story, he met Dimple Cheema. Cheema informed Srivastava that she had known Batra for four year but they had spent only somewhat 40 days together. The writer takes this point into consideration as the movie beautifully portrays the 40-days relation of Cheema and Batra. Kiara Advani who plays the role of Dimple Cheema has captured the essence of Cheema’s feeling for Batra.

Advani had met Cheema even before the shooting started. In an interview with BT, the former stated that Cheema helped her understand the “emotional aspect” of making this film. Advani had further stated that it was Vikram’s brother Vishal who helped her meet Cheema.

Knowing Cheema being a Punjabi, the movie has also incorporated dialogues in Punjabi. “It was an overwhelming and emotional experience for me to play Dimple,” added Advani.
