For King Charles III’s coronation concert on May 7, actress Sonam Kapoor donned a floor-length gown co-designed by Anamika Khanna and Emilia Wickstead. Photos and videos of the actress at the concert went viral on social media, with a section saying that her outfit ‘looks like a bedsheet’. Now, a fashion blogger has explained the ‘unique history’ of Sonam’s coronation gown’s chintz pattern fabric and the actress has thanked him for ‘getting the whole point’ of her look.
On Tuesday, Aamir Ali Shah, a fashion blogger, took to his Instagram account to share how many Indian and Pakistani brands utilise the chintz print today ‘without having an iota of knowledge’ about this fabric’s ‘unique history’. He likewise had a message for those who wondered ‘what’s amazing’ about Sonam’s coronation gown, as he educated them on the print, which he said was often ‘used for bed sheets, curtains and upholstery’ in the Indian subcontinent.
Responding to his post, Sonam penned in the comments section, “Thank you for getting the whole point of this. Anamika designed the print.”
In the meantime, on the professional front, Sonam is preparing to make her acting comeback after a long break with Shome Makhija’s Blind.
