Asit Modi, the producer of Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, recently made news after one of the show’s actresses, Jennifer Mistry, accused him of sexual harassment. Monika Bhadoriya, another actress from the show, has now claimed that she was tortured on the set.
In a recent interaction with Hindustan Times, Monika Bhadoriya, who played Bawri in the show, said that the producer did not pay her dues for 3 months after she left the show in 2019. The actress said that she have fought for her money for over a year. “Unhone har artist ka paisa rok rakha hai – whether it was Raj (Anadkat), Gurucharan (Singh) Bhai – sirf torture karne ke liye. Unke paas paise ki kami nahi hai.”
Monika also revealed how her late mother was undergoing cancer treatment and how the makers were unsupportive. She stated that she would spend the night in the hospital and that she would be called early in the morning for a shoot. Even if she says she is not in the correct frame of mind, they would still force her to come. “The worst part was that even after coming on shoot, I would wait, mera kuch kaam hi nahi hota that.”
The actress further alleged that the producer Asit Modi’s attitude was the reason that no cast member well out against him. She said that those who are in the show won’t speak up. “He even made me sign a contract to not speak ill about them in the media.” She added that Jennifer also did not speak up when others quit the show. According to her, when things happened to her, she spoke out. Everybody wants to keep their job. She also revealed that nobody has ever done as much torment as he has.
She also claimed that the show’s executive producer, Sohil Ramani, abused Nattu Kaka and said that they had promised her to hike her fee after 6 months, but they never did. “Wo paise ki beimaani karti hai. Sach mein wo kutte ki jaisa treat karte hain.” She called Sohil Ramanii the worst.
