Mission: Impossible – Fallout is the sixth film in the spy series which stars Hollywood star Tom Cruise. The film had a bumper opening of an estimated $61.5 million at the domestic box office this weekend. This makes the movie the biggest opening in the history of the 22-year-old franchise. The Fallout movie had just beaten the year 2000’s Mission: Impossible II.
The Paramount movie was also the second highest-grossing opening weekend for the Hollywood hottie Tom, eclipsed only by 2005’s War of the Worlds. The Mission Impossible – Fallout also surpassed the expectations of the industry for a whopping $50 million opening.
The weekend was a big win for both Tom Cruise and Paramount.
Paramount Studio which was struggling saw this great success which got the biggest opening of the year. Paramount ranks sixth in box office revenue among major studios in 2018.
Rebecca Ferguson and Henry Cavill starrer film was also a big win around the world bringing in $153.5 million globally.
Mission: Impossible is a rare blockbuster brand that is sold on a star in Cruise, not a brand like Marvel or Star Wars.
Tom Cruise is the face of this popular series which has made approximately a whopping $3 billion at the worldwide box office. Selling Cruise, and his extensive stunts, has proven to get a great profit for the Paramount Studio this weekend.

Paul Dergarabedian, senior analyst for comScore said, “Paramount did a masterful job of putting Cruise, the key asset for the ‘Mission: Impossible,’ front and center in their marketing campaign and publicity for ‘Fallout.'”
“This paid off handsomely for the latest installment of what has become one of the most popular and long running action franchises of all-time.”
Mission Impossible: Fallout is another hit for this year’s surging summer at the box office. The US box office is up 10.2% this summer from the same point in the season last year.
#MissionImpossible Fallout is the perfect popcorn summer movie. It has everything I wanted. Awesome action, crazy stunts, brutal fighting, great car/motorcycle chase scenes, characters that I care about and some funny moments. The IMAX scenes are gorgeous. I give it a 10/10. pic.twitter.com/AoqvsB3Bo1
