Many generous people are helping the needy ones during this pandemic and providing them with water, food and other necessary items. When the lockdown has been implemented in India, many people came back home while some are stuck where they were.

Same happened in Katra where the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine’s Aashirwad Bhawan has become an isolation centre since the lockdown started in March 2020. As the holy month of Ramadan has been started, the Shrine Bhawan is giving ‘Sehri’ and ‘Iftari’ to about 500 Muslims daily.

As per a report by Hindustan Times states, Chief executive officer of the board, Ramesh Kumar stated that the whole staff is working late nights so that they can provide the necessity Sehri and Iftari in these days to their Muslim friends.

During the ongoing Ramadan, Ramesh Kumar told the daily that the Jammu and Kashmir government is bringing back its citizens from various places around India and the Bhawan has provided 500 beds for isolated people.

As most of the citizens are migrant labourers fasting in the month of Ramadan in Bhawan, the CEO and team decided to give them food to start and finish their fast.

People are coming to Udhampur, a town in J&K from various states and cities by the special Shramik trains. The Ashirwad Bhavan is in Katra which is 40km away from the town.

Their team is also providing food to other quarantine centres in Katra and has spent Rs 80 lakh approximately since 20 March 2020 to the needy ones.

The holy shrine is the second richest temple in Indian after Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and people who are stuck in the city are considering the shrine board instead of hotels keeping in mind that the board is providing not only quality food but their lodges are clean and hygienic.

Well, the shrine board is doing a really great job and spent about Rs 1.5 crore for this pandemic period.
