‘Asked to remove my shirt’ alleges woman at Bengaluru airport for security reasons; Authority responds

A lady on Tuesday claimed that she was asked to take her shirt off during the security check at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport, and portrayed the experience as ‘‘humiliating’. Portraying her ordeal on the microblogging website Twitter, she inquired why the Bengaluru airport needs a woman to strip.

Taking to her tweeter account, A lady passenger named Krishani Gadhvi claimed that she was asked to take off her shirt for the security check at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport. Gadhvi also wrote that she felt humiliated as she was standing at the security checkpoint wearing just a camisole. She further tagged Bengaluru International Airport, inquiring why would they need a woman to strip?

Answering the tweet, Bangalore Bangalore International Airport wrote that they deeply regret the hassle caused and this should not have occurred. “We have highlighted this to our operations team and also escalated it to the security team managed by CISF (Central Industrial Security force) a Government sovereign.” The airport authorities likewise requested the lady to her contact information in a Direct Message.

Reacting to this a social media user likewise replied, “That’s so unbecoming of an airport and its security team. Security is prime, but don’t use it to humiliate people. Sickening!”
