Basanti Muduli, a tribal anganwadi worker in  Malkangiri district has passed her Class 10 examination along with her son. She had dropped out of school eighteen years ago and had to leave studies after her marriage. Basanti is a house maker and has set an example for all the ladies who have sacrificed their dreams for the sake of their families.

Basanti says that she got inspired by her son and started preparing for her matric examination which she left back 18 years ago.She works in C-colony under Karlakota gram panchayat of Malkangiri’s Korukonda block.

When the results were announced,Basanti was in tears after she cleared her class 10 exams conducted by Odisha state open school. She is a live example to people that dreams have no age bar. They can be fulfilled at any age but with sheer determination.

“My failure in clearing the matric exam always rankled me. I also realised that without clearing the matric, I possibly could not get any promotion,” said Muduli, who shared this moment of joy with her elder son Sibananda who also have cleared the exam in his first attempt.

Basanti credits her success to her supporting husband Laba Pattanayak and her son  Sibananda.”I used to study from the books of my son. He used to teach me everything that was taught at the school,” said Basanti.

Laba Pattanayak, the proud husband now supports her and wants her to study further. Ramesh Chandra Majhi, the MP said “I hope more and more dropouts enrol and study further”.

Basanti Is now an inspiration to many women who wanted to be something in their lives but were unable due to family or society pressure.
