As part of United Nation’s project, which was initially commenced during the year 1974, 5 June each year is observed as the World Environment Day.

The big day is a flagship movement to lift up consciousness around the unfolding ecological matters, their reasons and how to cope with them.

Over the years, around 143 nations have taken part in the episode. Every year, World Environment Day boats of a new subject, and in 2018, the theme is to stay away from plastic contamination.

UN Environment – You’re it! Join the global game of Tag to #BeatPlasticPollution for #WorldEnvironmentDay – show how you’re making the switch from single-use plastic & challenge 3 friends to do the same:

World Wildlife Day – Don’t cry over the past, it’s gone. Don’t stress about the future, it hasn’t arrived. Live in the present and make it beautiful! This #WorldEnvironmentDay, let us all make the change. Stop littering and say goodbye to single-use plastic! Together we can #BeatPlasticPollution!

United Nations – If you can’t reuse it, refuse it! On Tuesday’s #WorldEnvironmentDay, join the global movement to #BeatPlasticPollution: http://bit.ly/2stoBSg

UN Environment – Let’s give a 👎 to single-use plastic packaging to #BeatPlasticPollution. This #WorldEnvironmentDay, it’s time for a change.

The social platform played a major role in this special drive. And since these platforms are all about influence, biggies are energetically guiding this drive.

UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador from India, Dia Mirza, started this operation, with well-known personalities including Alia Bhatt, Arjun Kapoor, Sania Nehwal, Juhi Chawla, Kangana Ranaut shortly following.

Dia Mirza – Tag, I’m it – thanks for tagging me @adriangrenier! I switched to biodegradable sanitary napkins when I realised they are made mostly of plastic!#BeatPlasticPollution with @UNEnvironment for #WorldEnvironmentDay! Hey @sahil_sangha @aliaa08 @JNJCares – Tag, you’re it!

Gautam Gambhir – I think instead of #WorldEnvironmentDay let’s rename it as #WorldSurvivalDay. May be then we’ll realise we are on the brink of our carelessness & greed-infused disasters. Just look at water crisis in Shimla.

Arjun Kapoor – It takes one small step to #BeatPlasticPollution! I’ve replaced using plastic bottles with a metal one. It’s convinient & environment friendly. Tagging @AnushkaSharma @RanveerOfficial & @ParineetiChopra to take up the challenge & inspire others to choose a sustainable future.

Juhi Chawla – I am joining Rally for Rivers & United Nations to beat plastic pollution. Are you with me to try every bit to eliminate all single use plastic from our world?
