Many cricketers have appeared in films before, but few have played superheroes. However, opening batter Shubman Gill will establish new ground. The cricketer is voicing Indian Spider-Man Pavitr Prabhakar in the dubbed versions of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
The film’s makers revealed on Monday that the Hindi and Punjabi versions of the movie will star cricketer Shubman Gill as Pavitr Prabhakar, the Indian version of Spider-Man, who is making his screen debut. Across the Spider-Verse is the sequel to the 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, one of the best-selling animated movies of all time, which was released in 2018.
Talking about lending his voice to Pavitr Prabhakar, Shubman stated that Spider-Man is one of the most relatable superheroes and that he grew up watching him. He added that because the film will be debuting the Indian Spider-Man for the first time on screen, it was an incredible experience for him to be the voice of our Indian Spider-Man, Pavitr Prabhakar, in Hindi and Punjabi. “Already, I feel superhuman. I am eagerly anticipating the release of this movie.”
The Indian Spider-Man, Pavitr Prabhakar, was first featured in Marvel Comics in 2005. The character is an alternate version of Spider-Man set in India, created by Jeevan J Kang, Suresh Seetharaman and Sharad Devarajan.
